Colin McKay is an American painter and illustrator from Iowa. His work combines dark psychedelic surrealism, symbolic figuration, and an illustrative technique shaped by years spent living and painting in New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia. He holds a Masters in Clinical Psychology and a Doctorate in Law. Most of his work has been released and sold under various pseudonyms.
He relocated to Delaware in 2025.
His paintings and illustrations often feature distorted bodies, animals, mythic undertones, and religiously charged scenes that feel at once comic, violent, spiritual, and dreamlike. He cites among his influences Francis Bacon, Cormac McCarthy, Walton Ford, and Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
